Snooki's Zebra Print Hair Tool, is it Amika?

I was catching up on my Jersey Shore this week. I always have to watch it online because when I see 1 episode I get addicted and have to watch 2 -3 more in a row. Guess what is the first thing that Snooki did when she got out of jail? Straighten her hair with a Zebra Print Styler!

In episode 16, Snooki goes on a 24 hour drinking bender, face plants in the sand a few times and gets carried off the beach by 3 police men, resulting in her arrest. So in episode 17, "Free Snooki" she gets released, comes home and cleans herself up. She sits down for a heart to heart with Jenni and begins straightening her hair. I was excited to see she is using what appears to be the Amika zebra print Ceramic Styler.

I have to say it is kind of the best I have seen her hair looking. It looks really shiny and frizz free. I actually prefer it to the pouf and big curls she usually wears out. What do you think?

So for all you girls who are wondering "what is the zebra print flat iron Snooki is using???" It looks like it could be the Zebra Print Styler by Amika you can get it here: http://www.shop.loveamika.com.

Hair Trends for Fall 2011 from New York Fashion Week

New York Fashion Week only ended last week. Is it too early to talk about trends? Maybe... but we did see some interesting ideas emerging on the New York runways.

Rodarte, Y3
Coming Undone
Rodarte's prairie girls were a favorite on Twitter. The hair was side-swept, slightly messy and incorporated a mini fishtail braid.

Models at Y-3 sported thick french braids that were woven loosely and imperfectly.

Michael Kors, J. Mendel

Relaxed Glamour
For Michael Kors' 30th anniversary show, Orlando Pita, inspired by the 90's, pulled hair back into an effortless side bun. He said it was meant to look as if "a girl had done it herself."

At J. Mendel the hair, pulled back with a center part, was simply elegant.

Marchesa, VPL

Statement Chignon
The look at Marchesa was romantic and edgy, the hair erupted into a voluminous textured chignon at the back.

VPL hair stylist Recine re-imagined the chignon into an origami form. The hair was folded intricately, quite like the clothing in the collection, creating a silhouette with impact.

Exclusive Backstage Videos from VPL AW2011

Amika adores VPL. The brand is at once utilitarian, sculptural and chic. The incorporation of subtly sexy undergarments and innovative materials makes each collection highly anticipated. This season, Amika provided all the tools used to create the hair looks for the VPL show. We were thrilled to get a backstage glimpse at the VPL Fall 2011 collection.

Recine, the lead hairstylist for the show, created an intricate origami inspired chignon. We spoke with him about his inspiration and how he achieved the look.

We also spoke to legendary model Hannelore Knuts, who provided creative direction for this collection. Amika is Brooklyn based and we found out she is our neighbor! Very cool.

The collection was an exploration in form and texture inspired by the sculptures of Piero Manzoni, Joseph Beuys and Dustin Yellin. Nude latex was paired with luxurious weighty knits, laminated nylon and neoprene. The fabrics, in warm metallics, nudes and bold rust orange, were layered and wrapped. They cut across and bound each other and the body.

4 Inspiring Looks from the Spring 2011 Couture Shows

The couture shows in Paris are an opportunity for designers to create their most elaborate dream gowns. They spare no expense and the craftsmanship and time that goes into constructing each piece is unmatched. The beauty looks are wrought with equal care and help to express the particular fantasy the designer is creating. Here are 4 inspiring hair looks from last week's Couture shows.

Flawless at Christian Dior Couture-

Orlando Pita and his team executed picture perfect 50’s updos inspired by the flawless ladies in the illustrations of Rene Gruau. Click here to learn more about Rene Gruau in a great piece by the Telegraph.

Full Tilt at Jean Paul Gaultier Couture -

At Jean Paul Gaultier, extraordinary lengths of extensions were molded into intricate mowhaks and braids and splashed with streaks of red and black. A high fashion tribute to punk, models paraded down the runway to the Sex Pistols and the Clash.

Subdued at Valentino Couture-

On the models at Valentino, Eugene Souleiman created a simple pair of reverse French braids with a center part. The look, overly feminine and subdued, was subversive in its restraint.

Romantic at Elie Saab Couture-

At Elie Saab, the hair was slightly messy, parted at the side and swept across the back of the head into a tight side bun. The feminine, romantic look paired sweetly with sheer gowns in rose, lavender and floral prints accented with lace, floral appliqués and sequins.

6 Quick and Easy Fashion Week Hairstyles

Fashion week is coming up. This time of year hardworking fashion girls are beyond busy but they still need to look great round the clock. Here are 6 fast and fashionable hairstyles for women on the go.

  • Do a quick straightening with the Amika Ceramic Styler to make hair look clean and gorgeous. You can refresh the look each morning and in the evening, before you let loose.
  • Everyone is wearing a hat this time of year and many keep them on indoors. If you are wear a hat, add some nice loose waves around your face using an Amika Tourmaline Curling Wand to look polished.
  • Throw your hair in a messy bun. It looks romantic but keeps your hair out of your face so you can get down to business.
  • Slick you hair back into a sleek high ponytail, the "pony to go." Go over the ends with an Amika Ceramic Styler for a finished look.
  • The fishtail braid is very hot right now and it doesn't have to be executed to perfection. Do one quickly to the side (there are a lot of online tutorials out there to show you how). These braids also look great with a hat.
  • Make people smile with a couple of cute and quick pigtail braids. They are girly and playful.

A big thanks to backstage hairstylist Michiko Boorberg for the suggestions!

Another fashion week veteran, one of our Amika models, also had a great tip! Carry an Amika Mini Purse Styler and bobby pins in your handbag. Then you are prepared to do a quick straighten and restyle wherever, whenever.

Amika on Racked.com

Racked.com spelled out how to achieve the neutral makeup and beachy waves sported by Mila Kunis, Sofia Vergara and Kyra Sedgwick at the recent SAG awards.

Amika's Triple Barrel Pro Curler Set made the list!

What Racked.com had to say: "Though it may look a little scary, the concept behind a clampless curling iron is actually brilliant. It comes with three detachable rods and a heat protecting glove to ensure a no-burn method to achieving gorgeous curls."
