How to get editorial curls from hair stylist Rich Magana

Do you ever wish you could replicate hairstyles from magazines? Well, hair stylist, Rich Magana gives us details on exactly how to get the Polished Effortless Curls from this fashion story in Bunker Hill Magazine:

Step 1: Prep
I put a few drops of the Obliphica oil in my hand. I rubbed my hands together and then gently combed the oil through my models hair for shine and to help defrizz.

Step 2: Section and Curl
I sectioned the hair out in three sections: mohawk, sides and back.

I took pyramid shaped sub-sections and curled them using the 19mm and 32 mm for natural polished look. Each section was curled in a specific direction. For the back section, the curls were curled down. For the mohawk section, the sub-sections were curled back. The sub-sections at the side were curled on an angle for that flowy curl.

I sprayed the curl with amika Rice Spray and pinned each curl and set for 30 mins. Finally I released the curl and brushed through with my fingers.

How are you wearing your hair tonight? Here is a look to try: The Bardot

Bridgett Bardot's famous sexy, tousled hair is timeless. Lucky for you, we've got a tutorial on a modern take of the Bardot using amika products!

1. When hair is damp spritz some volumizer onto the roots - Try the 2 in 1 Volumizing and Styling Spray
2. Flip hair and blow dry upside down to give it more volume - Use the NRG Professional Drying System
3. Flip hair back up and then curl random strands with a big barrel curling wand in alternating directions - We recommend the 25mm Tourmaline Curler
4. Lightly tease the crown of your hair and then grab two large sections of hair from each side. Pull those sections back and then gently push upward before you pin hair in place.
6. Finish everything off with a light spray of the Obliphica Finishing Shine Spray and you're done!

Hot Hair Looks from the Fall 2011 Campaigns

Bally
Recreate Karlie's dramatic volume.
1. Apply the amika Obliphica Heat Defense Serum to wet hair and blow it dry using NRG Drying System.
2. Next use the amika 100% Ceramic Styler to create volume at the root. Take a section of hair, clamp the Styler around the section at the root, glide the Styler straight up, back and around to create a big barrel curl. Pin the curl into place and let it cool. Continue through the rest of your hair. Once the curls have cooled lightly comb them out. This will give you maximum volume.
3. Create texture at the root and around the face by lightly teasing select sections.

Chloe
How to get Sigrid's easy, straight look.
1. Apply a dime sized amount of amika Obliphica Oil Treatment to your palms and work through wet hair.
2. Blow out hair with the NRG Dying System and a paddle brush.
3. Take the pieces of hair that frame your face and wrap them around the amika 25mm Tourmaline Curler for just an instant, this will give you the slightest wave to frame your face.

Roberto Cavalli
A twist on curls for Fall
1. Apply the amika Obliphica Heat Defense Serum to wet hair and blow it dry using NRG Drying System.
2. Take a section of hair, twist it gently. Take hold of the twist around the height of your cheekbone. Then wrap the twist around the barrel of the amika 19mm Tourmaline Curler from this "cheekbone-high" point up to the root. Hold for a few seconds and release, pin the curled portion into place to cool. You are essentially curling the top third of the length of your hair, continue around your head.
3. Once the curls have cooled take them down and lightly brush them out. You can add additional curls to the ends of your hair and around your face by wrapping pieces around the amika 19mm Tourmaline Curler as desired.

Celine
This is a quick and easy chic hairstyle that you can do on wet or dry hair of any texture.
1. Use a brush to smooth hair it into a tight high pony tail.
2. To create a slight pouf, take a small section of hair along your hairline an inch inside the temples. Pull it back, twist, push it slightly forward creating a little pouf, pin into place. You can also do a mini tease on the hair just behind the center point of your hairline and use the front pieces to smooth over the top.
3. Wrap the ends around the pony to create tight bun.

Get Kate Middleton Curls

Royal Wedding coverage has reached a fever pitch worldwide. Style editors and bloggers are especially eager for Prince William and Kate's big day tomorrow, wondering which lucky designer has been selected to design Kate's gown. We too can't wait to see what she will be wearing but we will also have our eyes on her hair as she takes her first steps down the aisle. Kate has a beautiful, healthy mane which she often styles into long, loose curls. We rarely see her in an updo unless she is exercising, so it will be interesting to see what she chooses as her wedding beauty look.

NYmag.com compiled a slideshow of Kate Middleton style moments.

Here are a few of our favorite pics:

Dior, YSL, Bally, Cavallli... Get the Look from these Campaigns

Refinery29.com recently did a post on how to achieve the hair looks from the latest advertising campaigns for Dior, Bally, YSL and Roberto Cavalli. We loved the post but we wanted to give you additional instructions so that you can get the looks with your amika™ tools as well.

Adorable Karlie Kloss looks almost dangerous in the newest Dior campaign. Her voluminous curls can be achieved using the amika™ Tourmaline Clip Free Curler. Put a small amount of amika™ Curl Defining Cream in your palms and massage through dry hair. Section the hair and curl each piece from root to end. Roll curls into pin curls, secure with a bobby pin and let cool. Once you have finished your all of your sections, take down the curls and tousle them slightly.

Get this super sleek, super straight side part from the Bally campaign. Prep the hair by applying the amika™ Obliphica Nourishing Hair Mask to wet hair, let it works its magic for 10 - 15 mins and then rinse your hair completely. The mask will add shine to your hair and help smooth fly-aways. Blow your hair straight and go over any stubborn waves with the amika™ 100% Ceramic Styler.

Add a retro effect to your bob with the amika™ 100% Ceramic Styler. Part your hair at the temple. Take a section of hair and gently close the amika™ styler on your hair about 4 inches away from the scalp. Rotate the Styler away from your head 90 degrees. Hold it in place to set the curl then move the styler about 4 inches down the length of hair and rotate it 90 degrees, this time in the opposite direction, to finish the wave. Continue down the length of your hair. Make the look ultra glamorous with a light misting of amika™ Obliphica Finishing Shine Spray.

The hair in the latest Roberto Cavalli reflects its wild styling, the curls are unruly and have a natural look. Refinery29 suggested taking a small section of hair and wrapping it around a curler from mid-shaft to the ends. Once the curl is set you release and wrap it in the opposite direction to create a flat S-shaped curl which mimics the shape of a natural curl. Use a wide barrel clip free curling wand like the amika™ 25mm Tourmaline Curler.
