DIY Beachy Waves + Amika

BEACHY WAVES

Summer is almost here and it's no secret that we all want to have effortless flowing locks. We've got the perfect DIY for you to help got those sexy beach waves. This tutorial is so easy and will give your hair shiny waves that will stand up to that crazy beach weather! 

We recommend starting off with second day hair (it will hold the curl better than freshly washed strands).

What you'll need:

Amika Heat Defense Serum
32mm Tourmaline Curler
Obliphica Oil Treatment

Step 1 Prep hair with a quarter size amount of the Amika Heat Defense Serum

Step 2 Section hair into two and clip

Step 3 Wrap hair around the largest barrel (32mm) away from the face and hold for approximately 15 seconds

Step 4 Repeat step 3 throughout entire head

Step 5 Rub Obliphica Oil Treatment into palm of hands then run fingers through the ends of hair.

Step 6 As you finish with the oil make sure to break apart any defined curls into waves

Backstage Pass: Cynthia Rowley Spring/Summer 2012 Fashion Show

amika provided the backstage hair team for the Cynthia Rowley Spring/Summer 2012 Fashion Show. Key hairstylist Shon, who has styled for magazines including ID and Italian Vogue Beauty, lead his team armed with amika styling tools and haircare to create hair look for the show.

Here is how he did it:

1. Mist hair with a volumizing spray for texture and volume. Shon used amika 2-in-1 Volumizing and Styling Spray.

2. Apply a serum all over for more separation and shine. Shon used amika Obliphica Heat Defense Serum.

3. Create natural curls with variation and texture by using curler with a variety of barrel sizes. Shon used the amika Triple Barrel Curler. Using different barrel sizes means the curls are not too perfect achieving the laid-back look the hair stylist and designer wanted.

4. Add an ample amount of a thick curl defining cream to the roots to create a slept in, almost greasy texture. Shon used amika Obliphica Curl Defining Cream.

5. Finish with shine spray all over for shine. Shon used amika Obliphica Finishing Shine Spray.

The final look was cool, slicked back and beautiful, an effortless yet chic way to wear your hair for Spring.

Cynthia Rowley's collection was very smart with great tension between feminine romantic elements and the structured silhouettes. We went crazy for the prints, especially the abstracted florals and metallic gold geometric prints.

The front row included Lindsey Lohan, Alexa Chung, Derek Blasberg, Lisa Edlestein and Chris and Adrienne Bosh.

Beauty.com + Brooke Shields

This week Beauty.com held an event to launch the Accessories Tab on their website. They carry great brands such as Spanx, Tarina Tarantino and Matt & Nat. Legendary actress and model Brooke Shields was in attendance looking beautiful as ever. People Magazine snapped a picture of her trying on some of Beauty.com's new goods, see it here.

amika™ was on hand to provide hair styling for the editors in attendance. On such a hot, sticky day they were happy to get some TLC for their tresses. More than blow-outs, editor's were opting for curls. Our Triple Barrel Curler was a big hit with the guests! And our Obliphica haircare was a favorite for fighting mid-day frizz.
